A 17-YEAR-OLD boy was found dead at a swamp in Barangay Bantayanon, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Monday, January 2.
Major Lidawan Lumayen, chief of Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said Tuesday, January 3, that the victim, whose name was withheld by the police, was discovered by a concerned citizen in the area.
“He was already in an advanced state of decomposition, so we cannot conclude yet the cause of his death,” he said.
He added the family of the victim also refused for an autopsy.
Investigation showed the victim was last seen on December 30, 2022. He was said to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
“His family thought that he was just staying in their relative, so they did not look for him,” Lumayen said.
He said they will conduct further investigation to determine if there was a foul play in the incident.*
