PROVINCIAL political party United Negros Alliance (Unega) may endorse a presidential candidate for every district of Negros Occidental, its official said.

Unega secretary general and Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, on the sidelines of the general assembly of Unega leaders at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center in Bago City, said they have decided to meet again before the year ends to come up with a final decision on the matter.

He said Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III, Representatives Leo Rafael Cueva and Marilou Arroyo of the Second and Fifth Districts, respectively, initially agreed to back their national candidates.

For his part, Ferrer said he will support the presidential bid of former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. because of the closeness of the Benedicto's to the Marcos family.

"It has been Marcos-Benedicto you know that," Ferrer said.

Ferrer's wife, Fourth District Representative Juliet Marie Ferrer is a granddaughter of the late Ambassador Roberto Benedicto.
