Victorias CDRRMO receives aerial lift truck

Victorias City Government turned over a brand-new unit of aerial work platform truck to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) during the regular flag-raising ceremony, Sept. 25.

The truck will be used for tree-pruning and rescue operations of the CDRRMO and will be shared with the City Engineering Office for their construction, maintenance, improvement, and repair of infrastructure public works and other engineering projects.

It will also be used for the weekly Oplan Spaghetti Wires operation of the City Administrator’s Office.

Mayor Javi led the turnover ceremony together with the city councilors and was received by CDRRMO Head Rodolfo Retirado III and City Engineer Mary Jean Majaducon.

Moreover, in his speech, Mayor Javi announced that starting October 2, Victorias City will be observing the monthly Car-Free Monday which was previously started last June during the Environment Week celebration.

Every first Monday of the month will be a Car-Free Day in the city.

The City Mayor congratulated the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Victorias for their Top 3 placement in the recently concluded Local Legislative Award.

He also stressed the relevance of the ongoing Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration of the LGU in fostering a more conducive environment for the city employees.

Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Councilor Sheena Bagaforo, SK Barangay IX Chairperson Hon. Zenith Marie Dinorog, SK Barangay XIX Chairperson Hon. Leomar Roger Cagadas, and their respective SK councils were recognized for their Top Performing Council Award in the Province of Negros Occidental during the SK Awards Night 2023 held last August 12.

The city officials also recognized the NONECO Linemen also known as the Warrior of Lights for their commendable efforts rendered to the city during the recent six-day widespread blackout.

In addition, individual commendation was given to Wendeleen Anndee Granada Ortillo, who graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management from La Consolacion College – Bacolod City in June 2023.

Team Victorias was also recognized for their recent feat in the 7th Mayor's Cup Sepak Takraw National Championships 2023 (45 up Category) held in Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte from August 10 to 13.

Additionally, Alexis Duyungan and Fleonize Tudeja were given recognition as Lakan and Diwata of the first-ever search for ‘Diwata kag Lakan sang Northern Negros Natural Park’ during the 18th Anniversary celebration of NNNP held in Barangay Patag, Silay City, on August 14.

The Jaguar Badminton Academy Athletes were also awarded for their exceptional performance in the different categories during the Janiuay ADEMU Smashers 1st Invitational Anniversary Badminton Tournament at Janiuay Minucia.

This ceremonial event showcased the LGU’s consistent efforts to intensify disaster preparedness and recognition of outstanding individuals who have brought honor to Victorias through their achievements in various fields. (PR)
