The Victorias City government plans to connect all public schools in the city through technology owned by the world's richest person.

Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez on Thursday, October 5, said that the priority is to connect isolated schools through Starlink, owned by techpreneur Elon Musk, the world's richest person.

The plan is to provide satellite-based internet connectivity to underserved areas, he said.

Benitez also said that the other schools will also be connected "point-to-point."

"We are doing it right now with the different government buildings, including barangay halls," the mayor pointed out.

He said it would take months to connect all the schools, as they would need to conduct an assessment first.

The interconnection project has an initial budget of P1.2 billion, he added.

Asked why education is the top priority of his administration, Benitez said that "education is the foundation of any progressive society."

"If you're educated, you feel satisfied. You get a job. You help yourself and your family. Investment in education is one of the best things a government can do," he pointed out.*
