‘Yes to JVA’ gets 55.53% votes

The majority of the consumers of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) voted “yes” in favor of the power utility firm's joint venture agreement with Primelectric Holdings Inc. (PHI).

On Sunday, August 27, the sixth day of the plebiscite, “yes” to JVA garnered 98,591 votes, or 55.53 percent.

Only 88,870 are needed for the “yes” votes to reach 50% plus one vote of the 177,737 eligible voters of the member-consumers of Ceneco.

On Aug. 26, “yes” got 25,245 votes while “no” got only 116 votes, and on Aug. 27, “yes” had 5,784 votes, while “no” received 137 votes.

During the plebiscite on June 24, “yes” got 13,587 votes, while “no” votes were 3,748, and on June 25, “yes” got 8,087 votes, while “no” received 2,319 votes.

The Aug. 19 plebiscite registered 24,641 votes for "yes," and 284 for "no," while on Aug. 20, "yes" had 21,247 votes, while "no" received 250 votes.

As of Aug 27, the total votes are 105,490, with “yes” earning 98,591 votes, and “no” with 6,899.*
