“IT’S never ending, but we will be relentless.”
This was stressed by Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on Monday, February 10, 2025, after another regular employee of the City Government was allegedly involved in fuel pilferage at the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
“We will charge all those who are violating the directives and orders at the city,” Benitez said.
He said the employee would only say that it’s a small thing, but it’s not right because problem starts with small things.
“It’s a warning to all of our employees not to engage in illegal activities,” he said.
Secretary to the Mayor Atty. Marty Go earlier said the City Legal Office (CLO) has already issued a show cause order against the regular employee, who was assigned to the DRRMO.
“The gasoline intended for the DRRMO was allegedly used by the employee for her personal use,” Go said. “This is an offense.”
Go added that the employee has been given sufficient time to submit a counter-affidavit to explain her side.
In January 2025, two regular employees at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) were also under investigation for their alleged involvement in processing business permits.
City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu earlier said the two employees, one from the Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (Benro) and the other from the City Treasurer's Office (CTO), have been placed under investigation for their roles in the processing of business permits.
The two employees are accused of accepting money from business establishment owners for the processing of their business permits.
However, Chiu said that the complainants sought assistance from the City Legal Office after the employees took the money but failed to process the business permits in December 2024. (MAP)
