Murcia Mayor Gerry M. Rojas, assisted by Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office Head Ana Naranja and Child Care Development (Day Care) Focal Person Beth Agudo, distributed to the town’s Child Development Workers the initial budget for Murcia’s P6,758,640.00 Supplemental Feeding Program last Wednesday, Oct. 18.

“My administration considers education as extremely important in helping our children secure a well-paying job or engage in a viable business in the future, so that they can attain an improved quality of life for themselves and their families. Thus, here in Murcia, we prioritize the education of our children in our programs,” emphasized Mayor Rojas.

“Pre-school and primary education is the foundation for the children’s development. At this early stage, we will already invest in our children’s education by providing them with whatever they need, including supplemental feeding, so that their physical and mental development will be enhanced,” the mayor further stressed.

The initial release comprised of the budget for the first 15 weekdays (three weeks) of the supplemental feeding program for the 2,682 learners in 65 Day Care Centers in the town’s 23 barangays. The rest of the funds will be released to the Day Care Workers on a staggered basis until program completion.

Mayor Rojas thanked and praised the Day Care Workers for their dedication and hard work in educating and caring for Murcia’s pre-school children.

He assured them of his support, reiterating that his administration will always prioritize the budget for the Day Care Centers, particularly for the supplemental feeding program. (PR)
