THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has signed an agreement with the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) to bring telemedicine to communities across the province.
The signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) was led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Department of Health (DOH) Negros Island Region (NIR) Director Dr. Razel Nikka Hao, CLMMRH Chief of Hospital Dr. Joan Cerrada, and Negros Occidental Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ma. Girlie Pinongan at Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol on May 19, 2025.
Telemedicine refers to the practice of medicine by means of electronic telecommunications technologies such as phone call, chat, or short messaging service (SMS), audio and video conferencing to deliver healthcare at a distance between a patient at an originating site, and a physician at a distant site.
Lacson said the partnership is in support of the Department of Health’s Universal Health Care (UHC) 8-point Action Agenda, which will enable residents, particularly from remote areas to seek medical care without the need to leave their homes.
The CLMMRH has been engaged by the Negros Occidental Province-wide Health System as its Apex Hospital which was formalized through an agreement last year. (MAP)
