THE Negros Power announced that its electricity rates dropped by P0.6605 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the month of May 2025.

Jonathan Cabrera, spokesman of Negros Power, said in a statement that the residential electricity rates this month is P11.6958 per kWh, which is P0.6605 per kWh lower compared to P12.3563 per kWh in April.

He said it’s a big help to the consumers to manage their household monthly expenses.

“If a household uses an average of 200 kWh per month, consumers can expect to save around P132.10 this billing cycle. That’s money they can now put toward groceries, savings, or other household needs,” he added.

Negros Power attributed the decrease to the lower power generation and transmission costs include the P1.1585 per kWh drop in prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), the P0.2085 per kWh decrease in the Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) from Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC), and lower transmission charges with the Power Delivery Service (PDS) dropped by P2.82 per kWh and P29.31 per kW decrease in Ancillary Service costs.

“These combined reductions have made it possible to offer more affordable electricity rates to consumers across Central Negros,” Cabrera said.

He said Negros Power remains committed to transparent service and responsible energy sourcing to benefit every home, business, and community they serve.

In April 2025, the Negros Power rates were up by P0.8794 per kWh. It increased from P11.4766 per kWh in March to P12.3563 per kWh in April where they attributed the increase to the WESM prices that doubled from P3.5383 per kWh to P6.6865 per kWh in April. (MAP)
