Tell It To SunStar: To our gov’t officials

LET me apologize for not being able to keep my mouth shut when it comes to the safety of the community. This problem of clogged drainages and the flooding in the city should be given attention.

Our city is at risk of diseases due to its unsanitary condition. The clogging and flooding of our drainages where septic tanks from the different communities overflow and are washed away pose serious danger.

The contaminated water that were spread all over can cause different kinds of diseases. The people were walking and swimming through dirty water when it flooded. It was very unhealthy.

Drainages are clogged up and trashes can be seen along the Banago area. What happened to our beautiful city? We heard that the budget for the drainage is P1.5 billion which was mentioned by DPWH. What are we waiting for?

Please check pictures of the flooded areas in the whole of Bacolod City.

Which is more important, the beautification of our city or the health and safety of the people?

A 5-month-old baby died because he was washed away by the rushing flood? It’s about time that the government officials should open their eyes and face the truth.

See the lowland Iloilo City years ago. It used to flood a lot but because of the will power of their government officials they were able to fix the flooding problem.

Let’s do something to control the flood. It is as simple as that.

To our government officials, please leave something good for us to remember you by. Please prioritize what is best for our community.

May God bless you with wisdom and knowledge on how to fix the major problems of our city. God bless. (Marilu N. Custer)
