

THE Office of the Vice President (OVP) distributed food assistance to at least 2,697 families affected by the floods caused by the southwest monsoon, or habagat enhanced by Tropical Cyclone Crising in Negros Occidental and Antique on July 20, 2025.
The OVP–Panay and Negros Islands Satellite Office conducted the relief operations to 12 cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental.
They distributed relief boxes and food packs to at least 526 families in Himamaylan City, 268 families in Binalbagan, 243 in Hinoba-a, 278 in Ilog, 104 in Bago City, 139 in Kabankalan City, 253 in Isabela, 302 in Moises Padilla, 140 in La Castellana, 139 in Pontevedra, and 105 families in Cauayan, all in Negros Occidental.
The OVP–Panay Satellite Office also delivered relief packs to at least 200 families affected by floods in Sebaste, Antique.
The OVP also expressed its gratitude for the coordination of the local government units’ staff from Himamaylan City, Binalbagan, Ilog, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) of Himamaylan, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Army, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), and Rescue Recon.
The City Government of Bacolod also provided food assistance to a total of 76 families who were evacuated to various evacuation centers on July 19.
Richelle Verdeprado-Mangga, Department of Social Services and Development head, said the City also recorded a total of 15 houses damaged due to floods and fallen trees in Barangays Sum-ag, Granada and Tangub.
She said those families with damaged houses will be given P10,000 financial assistance.
She added that the City will also request additional food packs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region to be distributed this week. (MAP)
