

THE Office of the Vice President (OVP) planted at least 5,000 cacao seedlings in the municipality of Ayungon, Negros Oriental, on August 9, 2025.
The activity was attended by OVP-Panay and Negros Islands Satellite Office personnel, along with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro), Akalabanan Association, Banban Women’s Association, and barangay officials.
Dr. Chris Sorongon, head of the Office of the Vice President Negros-Panay satellite office, said cacao is the main source of income for the people of Barangay Banban, where the tree planting activity was held.
He expressed gratitude for the participation and cooperation of Penro, Akalabanan Association, Banban Women’s Association, and the barangay officials of Ayungon.
Sorongon added that the tree planting activity is part of OVP’s PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees campaign, which includes the goal of planting 1 million trees nationwide by 2028 to promote environmental preservation. (MAP)
