THE Negros Occidental Provincial Government distributed a total of P941,500 in financial incentives to Negrense athletes who won medals in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa held in Ilocos Norte.
The distribution was led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson along with Department of Education (DepEd)-Negros Island Region (NIR) director Ramir Uytico and officer-in-charge assistant regional director Anthony Liobet at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Each athlete received P10,000 for gold medal; P7,000, silver; and P4,500, bronze.
Negrense athletes won a total of 18 gold, 20 silver, and 21 bronze medals in the recent Palaro.
Coaches and trainers of the medalists were also granted cash incentives.
Athletes who established new records in various sporting events received additional cash rewards.
The Palarong Pambansa was held in Ilocos Norte from May 24 to 31, 2025, with Western Visayas placing third in the overall championship. (MAP)
