THE Negros Power announced on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, that its electricity rates dropped by P0.6711 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the month of March 2025.

Jonathan Cabrera, spokesman of Negros Power, said the average cost for residential customers has dropped to P11.4766 per kWh, a significant reduction of P0.6711 from last month’s rate.

He said this positive shift is attributed to a combination of factors, including lower generation costs and a decrease in transmission charges.

He added that the Green Core Geothermal Inc. has implemented a Temporary Baseload Discount of P0.15 per kWh for the entire year of 2025.

Cabrera noted that the Palm Concepcion Power Corp. Emergency Power Supply Agreement rate has also decreased from P6.1635 to P6.1368 per kWh, a reduction of P0.0267 per kWh.

“Prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market have dropped significantly, resulting in a reduction of P0.5142 per kWh,” Cabrera said.

He said the average transmission charge has decreased due to lower ancillary service costs, resulting in a savings of P273.8091 per kWh.

He added that they adjusted the Feed-in Tariff Allowance rate from P0.0838 to P0.1189, reflecting an increase of P0.0351 per kWh, as per Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) Resolution with ERC Case 2023-096 RC dated 19 February 2025.

Cabrera said this reduction in electricity rates will directly benefit consumers, providing them with more disposable income and easing the financial burden of their monthly bills.

“We are pleased to announce this positive development for our customers. We are committed to providing reliable and affordable electricity, and we will continue to explore ways to improve our services and provide value to our consumers,” he said.

He added that Negros Power remains committed to providing transparent and reliable service, ensuring that its customers are informed about all aspects of their electricity bills. / MAP
