THE Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has launched Red Teaming Operations (RTMO) across the NIR as part of the comprehensive security preparations for the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).
Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR regional director, said the Red Team, composed of trained personnel acting as adversaries, is tasked to test the strength and readiness of security measures in place.
Through realistic simulations and operational assessments, he said the Red Team exposes weaknesses in the system, which, if found, are immediately reported to the Regional Election Monitoring and Action Center (Remac) for prompt correction and reinforcement.
He added that these operations are vital in ensuring the proper implementation of the regional security plan and in identifying possible lapses in the current deployment.
Ibay noted that this proactive approach not only strengthens the existing coverage for NLE 2025 but also contributes significantly to the development of more effective and responsive security strategies for future events.
Ibay said observations, feedback, and recommendations from these Red Teaming activities are being adapted to improve regional security frameworks continuously.
“The deployment of our Red Team is a strategic component of our security plan for NLE 2025. It provides us with real-time insights on the effectiveness of our current deployment and exposes areas where we can still improve,” he said.
He added this ensures that they are not just reactive, but always a step ahead in providing a safe, orderly, and credible electoral process for the people of Negros Island Region.
Ibay disclosed that they are on full alert status and deployed at least 7,000 security forces, which include the Philippine Army and Philippine Coast Guard, to secure the polling centers before and after the elections. (MAP)
