THE Rockwell Land Corporation will provide another P10 million to the City Government of Bacolod for the construction of the new building of Police Station 3 along Buri Road, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, who led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Police Station 3 Monday, June 9, said he is thankful to the officials of Rockwell for supporting the city’s program.
He said Rockwell has donated a 1,986-square-meter parcel of land to the City Government of Bacolod to serve as the future site of essential emergency facilities of the city.
The facilities will include a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) sub-station, a police station, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Command Center.
The property is located within the new Rockwell development along Buri Road, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Benitez said Senator Francis Tolentino already allocated P10 million for the construction of the new Police Station 3.
“Now we have a total of P20 million for the construction of Police Station and we will look for additional funds for the construction of the substations of BFP and DRRMO,” Benitez said.
He added that he will lobby it to the national government when he assumed his post.
The mayor noted that the construction will be headed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and is expected to be completed in eight months.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, also expressed his gratitude to the city officials and Rockwell.
He said it was the right time to transfer the station to have enough space.
"We are thankful to Rockwell so we can build the permanent office of Police Station 3, which will be funded by the national Office," he added. (MAP)
