San Carlos City Hospital (SCCH) was recently awarded a 4-Green Star Rating under the Green Viability Assessment System by the Department of Health (DOH) on December 2, 2024, during the Green Health Facilities Technical Conference in Clark, Pampanga.

SCCH achieved an impressive score of 86.51%, positioning itself as a Green and Safe Health Facility among 176 hospitals nationwide. This recognition underscores the hospital's ongoing commitment to implementing environmentally sustainable practices that prioritize both patient well-being and environmental stewardship.

Acting Chief of City Hospital Dr. Renan Sanchez and Administrative Officer Charlen Pol Bistis-Anlap received the award on behalf of the hospital.

Anlap expressed that the 4-Green Star Rating further motivated the hospital to enhance its programs and policies, aiming to improve healthcare services while fostering a safer, greener, and more climate-resilient facility.

She credited several key practices for the hospital’s achievement, including its wastewater treatment facility, therapeutic Zen Garden, Gulayan sa Hospital, vermiculture program, design features promoting natural light and ventilation, as well as the ongoing training of the emergency response team and hospital drills.

In addition to the Green Star rating, SCCH was the only hospital in Western Visayas invited to present its innovative performance standards in emergency response planning at the conference. The panel commended the hospital’s preparedness and proactive approach.

SCCH was also included in the top 35 for the Hospital Digital Poster category, further highlighting its dedication to integrating technology and sustainability in healthcare.
