BACOLOD City Administrator Atty. Mark Mayo clarified that the school administrative staff who was arrested in a drug bust in Purok Masinulondon, Barangay Punta Taytay on July 23, 2025, has no current appointment as a job order worker of the city.
Mayo said there was an allegation that the suspect, identified as alias "Cha," was working as a job order employee.
Upon verification, he said they found that the suspect was a former job order worker from March to June 2025 and was detailed in a public school as an admin staff in Barangay Punta Taytay.
"This July 2025, her name was being endorsed for retention since there were no complaints against her. But technically speaking, she has not yet been appointed as a job order," Mayo said.
Mayo explained that job order workers will not be considered employees of the city unless they have an official appointment from the City.
"At the time of her arrest, she is not appointed as job order worker of the city," Mayo said.
On Wednesday, alias "Cha" was arrested by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) after she sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer in Purok Masinulondon, Barangay Punta Taytay.
Recovered from her possession were 11 transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing approximately 50 grams, with an estimated market value of P340,000, along with the P1,000 marked money and other non-drug items.
Police said alias “Cha” is classified as a high-value drug personality in Bacolod City.
In spite of her endorsement, Mayo said the suspect will no longer be accommodated to be a job order worker.
" Those who intent to work and partner with us, should have no any involvement in illegal drugs," he said.
He added that it's part of the city's campaign led by Mayor Greg Gasataya to address the illegal drug problem in the city.
Mayo cited that on the first day of the mayor's duty, he voluntarily underwent drug testing on June 30, 2025, and tested negative.
Gasataya, along with some of his executive assistants (EAs), took the test at the City Health Office (CHO).
Gasataya earlier said all his EAs and co-terminus employees will undergo mandatory drug testing, as they were appointed to serve the city.
“It’s part of the government’s campaign to ensure that we function well. It’s also part of our fight against illegal drugs, and we should set an example,” he said. (MAP)
