THE Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) urged the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to intensify its intelligence, monitoring the selling of liquid marijuana that might be sold at vape shops in the city.

City Legal Office Karol Joseph Chiu said the selling of liquid marijuana is illegal and the police should address this new modus of drug personalities selling the liquid marijuana as well as dried marijuana leaves and shabu.

This was after almost P1 million worth of dried marijuana leaves and liquid marijuana were earlier seized in Bacolod City and La Carlota City.

The liquid marijuana is processed marijuana transformed into syrup form sold in cartridges or small bottles, and suitable for vaping.

Chiu said the police should conduct a thorough investigation to determine the possible customers of the individuals who are selling the liquid marijuana.

He said it is alarming in Bacolod City, especially for the youth who are using vapes.

He added parents should also monitor the activities of their children and to ensure that they are not using liquid marijuana.

On the part of the City Government, Chiu said the CLO, along with the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO), will also intensify the inspection of business permits in various areas, including the business establishments selling vapes.

“We will check their business permits and will ensure that they are selling legal products or materials,” Chiu said.

On his part, Colonel Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, said liquid marijuana is new in Bacolod City.

He said on May 26, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recovered at least 17 cartridges of liquid marijuana in a drug bust operation in Barangay Tangub, adding that of three suspects who were arrested, one of them admitted that there were still some supplies of dried marijuana and liquid marijuana left in their house in La Carlota City, which were also recovered by the police on the following day.

Coronica noted that liquid marijuana is now being used for vaping and it’s the first time that they recovered the said illegal items.

“This will serve as a warning to those who are selling vape products to be cautious of what they are selling,” Coronica said.

He said that they will intensify their intelligence monitoring to prevent the entry of liquid marijuana as well as dried marijuana leaves and shabu.

He added policemen were deployed to various entry points such as sea ports and terminals in Bacolod City.

Coronica disclosed that they determined that the supply of illegal drugs in Bacolod City was sourced from Luzon. (MAP)
