TAEKWONDO jins from Bacolod City brought home four gold medals, a silver medal, and one bronze medal from the 46th National Taekwondo Championships held from July 22-23, 2023 at the Music Hall of Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The Santillan brothers namely Colton Graye and Dondy Santillan Jr. won the first and second gold medals for Bacolod City as they easily handled their opponents in their respective categories.

Katherine Mandal from St. Scholastica’s Academy added another gold medal while she overpowered all competitors in her category with her high kicks and overwhelming speed and accuracy.

Zyx Marisse Geocadin from the National Academy of Sports delivered the last gold medal for Bacolod City as she was able to come back from a six-point deficit with only seven seconds remaining in her final match.

She was able to connect a three-point head kick with seven seconds left and another five-point turning head kick with only one second remaining.

Joshua Emmanuel Deita from Colegio de San Agustin Bacolod settled for a silver medal when the referee declared his opponent the winner of their match after he accidentally connected a punch to his opponent’s face and allegedly injured his opponent.
