KALIPAY Negrense Foundation Inc. (KNFI) in collaboration with Junior Chamber International (JCI)–Bacolod Executive is organizing “Exerun 2018: Dalagan Para Sa Batang Negros,” which is part of the celebration of the National Children’s Month this November.

This “fund run,” which will be held on November 18, is aimed to raise money to rebuild Recovered Treasures, a home that cares for disadvantaged children (homeless, abandoned, victims of physical and sexual abuse, orphaned and neglected).

Kalipay has been working for the causes of disadvantaged children since 2007. The foundation manages two homes, Haven Home and Recovered Treasures that currently houses 101 children. It also supports communities wherein the needs and rights of disadvantaged children are protected and where they are empowered and allowed to grow in a fun, healthy environment.

Founder and president Anna Balcells said: “The past 11 years have been very challenging and we don’t know how long we can continue doing this. But the prospect of journeying with these children to live a life free from abuse and hunger, filled with love and joy is what keeps us going. It is also a pleasant inspiration that organizations like JCI-Bacolod Executive composed young professionals from different industries have adopted our cause. This gives me a positive view of the future, that when the day comes that we could no longer do what we do, the next generation will be there to continue to fight for the causes of disadvantaged children.”

ExeRun project chair Stanley Tan said, “we had a wonderful opportunity to interact with Kalipay’s children, I can say altogether that it was a unique life-changing experience. We were given the chance to see the world from another perspective. So together with JCI Bacolod Executive Team under the leadership of President Mhel Enderes Sillador, we have committed to be proactive in the campaign in raising public awareness of the sorry plight of abused children in Negros Occidental and make sure organizations like Kalipay Negrense Foundation get to continue what they do.”

Runners may sign up in any of the three categories; 3km, 5km and 12km. Nonrunners may also sponsor a Kalipay child to join in the run.

The run will kick off from the Government Center at 4 a.m.

Interested participants may call Kalipay Negrense Foundation at +639177711693 or register at Planet Sports, The Sports Warehouse, FourB’s Sportswear. (PR)
