Garbanzos, 15 other Pinoy jins off to Tunisia for World Taekwondo tourney

YOUNG Negrense jin Shaira Isabel Garbanzos, together with 15 other Filipino jins, are leaving for Tunisia to wear the Philippine colors in the World Taekwondo Qualification Tournament scheduled on April 6 to 7.

It will be followed by the World Taekwondo Championships on April 9 to 13 in Hammamet.

Garbanzos, who is the teammate of 2017 World Cadet Taekwondo Championships gold medalist Angeline Alcantara at Hanah Taekwondo gym, is looking forward to bring another honor to the province and the country when she competes in the -55kg division.

Other Filipinos seeing action are male jins Kian Graydon Ashe (-48kg), Dex Ian Chavez (-55kg), Russel Villanueva (-63kg), Vonn Christopherson Edillor (-45kg), Rommel Pablo Jr. (-48kg), Aljen Aynaga (-51kg), Andrew Ely Medina (-63kg), Arby Garriega (-68kg), Ramcess Bautista (-73kg) and Gabriel Teruel (-78kg).

The distaff side is Abigail Faye Valdez (-44kg), Laize Angela Abucay (-49kg), Geriane Kendall Therese Pineda (-42kg), Reign Charisse Ragutana (-59kg), and Maria Laney Kaye Panahon (-46kg).

Heading the Meralco/MVP Sports Foundation-bankrolled Philippine contingent are coaches Brix Darmo Ramos and Carlos Jose Padilla V.

Over 70 countries like Korea, Iran, France, Germany, the United States and Turkey are also sending entries in this twin event. (HGD)
