REIGNING champions Lopues-LaSalle Lady Stingers registered 3peat victories in the NOPSSCEA Season 39 table tennis tournament at VMA Gym last Saturday, November 23.

Lady Paddlers Mariella Mabaquiao, Angeli Bayang, Cherrica Michelle Uytiepo, Alyssa Kyla Tolosa, Ashley Ann Santander, and Catherine Samson won straight over their opponents 3-0.

The Lopue’s-La Salle men’s team composed of Nelgen Ablao, Elijah David Bomban, Jopet Epe, Rodney Jarder Jr., and John Rey Cantero was awarded first runner-up after a crucial and hair raising match against the VMA college team that earned the championship.

Only three college entries joined the men’s event and four in the women’s team, a far cry from 6 - 8 in the previous years.

Meanwhile, the Lopue’s-La Salle secondary boys and girls settled only for the 1st runners-up awards after losing their match 2-3 over VMA boys and girls team in a breaks of the game. As expected, Micah Tanate still reigned in the singles event while Mark Lantabora won the bronze.

Two Lopue’s-La Salle players George Saligumba and Mika Tanate were selected to reinforce the VMA team in the coming provincial tournament.

The elementary boys bagged the back to back championship after their finals over House of Praise Learning Center. Anton Andre Bayona won the gold while his teammate Joaquin Bragania won the silver in the singles event.

The team is composed of Anton Andre Bayona, Joaquin Bragancia, Franz Jedriek Geganto, and Christian Miguel Java who unfortunately passed away together with his dad, grandmother, and nanny. This tragedy really touched LOPTTA and the University of St. La Salle family as well, but in spite this, “we will always remember Miguel and will stand strong and continue our table tennis journey” coach Marell Lagunday-Alvarez added.PR
