WITH the retirement of Negros Occidental Volleyball Association, after 40 years being a prime mover of the sport in the province, two volleyball organizations rose to keep the young volleybelles’ dreams achievable.

Recently, the Negros Federation of Volleyball Enthusiasts Inc. (NeFVEi) and the Negros Volleyball Federation (NVF) came into the picture as the new players in developing province-based talents.

Headed by Jon Mar Aguillon, the NeFVEi aims to be a venue of volleyball enthusiasts, not only to compete but to participate in various social activities that will promote self-development, brotherhood, and friendship.

Moreover, the group is also geared to value their members, look upon their peers and be respected by its rivals and followed by society.

With Aguillon in achieving these goals are the other officers - Mercy Nillos, vice president; Mercirose Rafil, secretary; Jose Montalbo, treasurer; Jeffrey Getida, auditor; and Roberto Galamba Jr., Public Information Officer.

Meanwhile, the NVF has interim president Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa, a young and tested leader and event organizer.

With Gamboa and her group, they are also expected to continue the volleyball grassroots program in Negros.

For former Nova president Roger Banzuela, it is time for the young players to take over the volleyball leadership.

“I am not getting any younger. I am 71 years old this December,” said Banzuela who will just serve as an adviser. (HGD)
