DESPITE the ongoing coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, the Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (Nopsscea) virtually launch through Zoom meeting the 41st season of its athletic and cultural events Friday, February 4, 2022.
Mark Molina, Nopsscea president, told Sunstar Bacolod that this season is anchored on the theme “Nopsscea: Never Outdone @ 41,” which speaks of the struggles of the academe while battling the pandemic.
Molina said their events for this season involve sports, cultural and academic competitions.
He said their technical committee has done initial meetings already relative to this year’s events.
Among the events for this year’s Nopsscea season include online athletics competitions for taekwondo, chess, and even basketball.
For basketball, it will not be a typical team sport, rather it would be more of an individual skills competition, Molina earlier said.
This will be the same for taekwondo, wherein participants will only showcase their set sequence of movements that consists of the various fundamental stances, blocks, punches and kicks logically arranged in a meaningful order in response to attacks from multiple imaginary assailants or poomsae instead of the usual contact sport, Molina added.
