Provincial Sports Office calendars sports activities

THE Negros Occidental Provincial Government and the Provincial Sports Office (PSO) have officially resumed their sporting activities and tournaments.

In line with this, they are pleased to announce the upcoming sports events that will take place over the weekend, a statement from the provincial government said.

Among the sporting activities to be held is the District Festival Three-by-Three Basketball Tournament, which will serve as the eliminations for Districts I and II.

The District I Elimination will be on Saturday, October 15 in San Carlos City where participating teams include the municipalities of Don Salvador Benedicto, Calatrava, and Toboso and Escalante City as well as the contingents from the host locality.

For the District II Elimination, the Municipality of Manapla will be the host venue. The game will start at 1 p.m. also on Saturday where cagers from Manapla, Cadiz City, and Sagay City will clash in the 19-under and 16-under boys categories.

Aside from basketball, Abanse Negrense’s boxing at the park continues with its semi-finals and final bouts.

On October 15, the boxing matches will be held at the semi-finals will be held in Silay City Public Plaza while the finals on October 16.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s Cup Football Provincial Championship will proceed with its north, south and central Negros qualifying matches.

The north Negros games will be held in San Carlos City at 8 a.m. on October 15, while the south and central Negros matches are scheduled in the municipality of Pontevedra at 8 a.m. the following.

The Governor's Cup Football games have two categories.

The 17-under boys (born 2005) with the 11-a-side with an offside format, and the 12-under boys with the 9-a-side with an offside rule.

These sports events and tournaments are part of the Abanse Negrense Sports Programs and Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson’s commitment to putting structured sports development programs in place at grassroots levels.
