AFTER their heartbreaking loss in last year’s finals, Bacolod Tay Tung High School finally clinched the title in the just-concluded Victor C. Plagata Cup Season 13 after sweeping Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles in three sets at the Civic Center in Bingawan, Iloilo.
Tay Tung, the 2018 National Prisaa Champions dominated Ateneo de Cebu, the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) titlist: 25-21, 25-11 and 25-17.
Back-to-back most valuable player (MVP) Shane Carmona led Tay Tung’s dominance in the tournament with the host, Bingawan National High School, finishing second runner-up followed by Aklan Catholic College.
Also in the tournament are Ateneo de Iloilo and Bacolod’s St. John’s Institute.
Last year’s champions Central Philippine University Golden Lions begged off from the tournament after earlier expressing intent to defend the title. (HGD)
