Tropical Storm 'Peipah' to enter PAR Sunday

MANILA -- Tropical Storm "Peipah" is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibilty (PAR) by Sunday afternoon or evening, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pagasa) said that as of 4 a.m. Sunday, Peipah was spotted at 1,355 km east of General Santos City.

Pagasa weather forecaster Fernando Cada said that once Peipah enters the PAR, the tropical storm will be named "Domeng," the fourth cyclone to affect the country this year.

In its advisory, the weather bureau said the tail-end of a cold-front will continue to affect extreme Northern Luzon, bringing cloudy to rainy weather in most parts of the country.

It said Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with scattered light rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. (PNA/Sunnex)
