THE Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas (TUP-V) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental held its 5th Technology Convention at Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod City from April 7 to 8, 2025.
The event was attended by students, faculty, industry leaders, and innovators to showcase and explore cutting-edge advancements in technology.
With the theme "Kari Na sa Technology Convention 2025! Kindling Advanced Research and Innovation for the Next-Gen Arena," the convention will spotlight groundbreaking research and sustainable innovations driving the future of technology.
Engineer Gregorio Crisostomo, assistant director for Research and Extension, said the convention was organized to provide solutions to problems in the country through research, extension and commercialization of the university.
"Our university exists in order to us to provide knowledge and solutions such as technology that the community will be able to use. We are organizing this to bring together our stakeholders, students, faculty, industry partners, local government units, and the community," Crisostomo said.
He added that they already helped community farmers and indigenous peoples (IPs) including in the areas of Talisay City, Bacolod City, Salvador Benedicto, and Murcia by making them utilize the output of the university in terms of technological solutions to the problems of the community.
Eric Malo-oy, TUP-V campus director, said this year’s Technology Convention is particularly special, as it marks the first time they are celebrating this remarkable event outside the TUP Visayas campus.
"By bringing the convention to Ayala Malls Capitol Central Bacolod, we are expanding our reach and engaging a broader audience, inviting more collaborators, industry partners, and members of the community to be part of this transformative experience," he said.
For the students, he added that this is their chance to showcase their ingenuity and capacity to solve critical problems.
"To our industry partners and stakeholders, this is an opportunity to collaborate, exchange insights, and drive the commercialization of valuable technologies. To our entire TUP Visayas community, may this event inspire us to keep pushing boundaries and striving for excellence," Malo-oy said. (MAP)
