BACOLOD City Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the City Council committee on tourism, urged the City Legal Office (CLO) and Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) to inspect the resto-bars and other business establishments serving alcoholic beverages in the city.

Villarosa said the City should ensure that all business establishments serving alcoholic beverages are operating with business permits.

This came after an 18-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a 19-year-old college student outside the resto-bar along Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan on May 13, 2025.

Villarosa said he already filed a resolution on May 21, urging the City Mayor’s Office through the CLO and BPLO to take action on the incident.

He said it has been observed that some of the resto-bars were operating without securing the necessary permits from the city.

“It’s our initiative so that all the resto-bars will secure the business permits,” he added.

City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu said they already checked the resto-bar along Lacson Street and they found out that one of the stalls failed to secure a business permit.

He said the business establishment owner voluntarily closed their operation and promised to process a business permit.

Chiu urged all the business establishment owners to finish the processing of their business permit to avoid penalty. (MAP)
