WATER Watch Advocates convenor Wennie Sancho commended President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, July 28, 2025, for highlighting the dismal state of water services in the Philippines.

"We believe that this acknowledgement is crucial step towards addressing the long-standing issues plague the water sector," Sancho said.

As an organization advocate for improved water services, he said they are particularly concerned about the performance of Baciwa Prime Water in Bacolod City.

"We note that Prime Water is under investigation by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) and we urged the company to take this opportunity to implement reforms and improvement in line with the President's admonition," he added.

Among the key demands of Water Watch Advocates is improved water quality.

"We call on Baciwa Prime Water to prioritize the delivery of reliable, efficient and affordable water services to the people of Bacolod City" Sancho said.

Sancho noted that the LWUA investigation in line with the marching order of Marcos focuses on Prime Water's performance, service quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Sancho said the President's mention of dismal water services underscores the need for reforms and improvement in the water sector.

"The investigation's findings and subsequent actions will be crucial in shaping the future of water services in the country" he said. (MAP)
