Atok cops deliver learning modules

HIGHLAND police started to serve as "mail men" in delivering learning modules of students.

Amid the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, Atok Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief Major Zacarias Dausen said the "Police mo, Mail man mo" was launched in June during the imposed community quarantine to help deliver learning modules to far-flung areas of the municipality.

During a press conference at the Benguet Provincial Police Office on Tuesday, Dausen said the program was initiated after seeing the challenges of parents for the continuous learning of students amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dausen said students and parents are informed of drop-off points in the town where the Atok cops are set to deliver the modules.

He said they conducted a memorandum of understanding with private universities in La Trinidad such as Kings Colleges of the Philippines and Cordillera Career Development College for the project with students from Atok as beneficiaries.

He said their objective is to minimize exposure of students and those vulnerable of the virus, lessen financial and time constraints of parents and students, and strengthen rapport of police and students.

Dausen added they also hope to encourage students to pursue education amid the pandemic and expand collaborations with institutions such as Department of Education-Benguet.
