Baguio, Benguet police get recognition

THE Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and the Benguet Provincial Police Office (BPPO) were among the awardees recognized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) for performance in pursuit of peace and order.

In a simple ceremony during the 119th PNP Police Service Anniversary at Camp Bado Dangwa, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera honored individuals and different police stations in the region for their commitment in maintaining peace and order amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Benguet PPO Provincial Director Colonel Elmer Ragay led the awardees as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer for operations in the individual category, while La Trinidad Municipal Police Station bagged the Best Municipal Police Station received by the chief of police, Major Cleff Vencio.

Police Colonel Allen Rae Co, city director of the BCPO, received a Special Individual Award for his performance amid the Pandemic.

Police Colonel Angel Garcillano, chief of the Regional Health Services Unit (RHSU), was awarded the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO), while Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Fati-ig of Kalinga PPO bagged the Best Junior PCO.

In the Police Non-Commissioned Officer (PNCO) category, Provincial Emergency Medical Service (PEMS) personnel Solomon Saluquen Jr. of Abra PPO was awarded as the Best Senior PNCO, while Police Staff Sergeant Menzi Grace Gaste of Benguet PPO was named the Best Junior PNCO.

Co was named the Best Senior PCO, while Police Lieutenant Colonel Maximo Sumeg-ang of the BCPO was Best Junior PCO.

Police Master Sergeant Geliza Moyao of Benguet PPO was awarded as the Best Senior PNCO, while Police Sergeant Drexel Jay Bog-acon of Kalinga PPO was awarded as Best Junior PNCO.

Non-Uniformed Personnel (NUP) Acela Culaton of the Regional Head Quarters (RHQ) was awarded as the Best Non-Uniformed Personnel in the Supervisory Level, while Angelo Vicente of Mountain Province PPO was adjudged as the Best Non-Uniformed Personnel in the Non-Supervisory Level.

Plaques of Recognition and a PNP Unit Streamer were awarded to Ifugao PPO for the Best Police Provincial Office, Police Station 1 of Baguio City as Best City Police Station, while the Regional Finance Service Office 15 was awarded as the Best National Administrative Support Unit.

The Regional Investigation Unit (RIU)-14 was awarded as the Best National Operational Support Unit. Sagada MPS in Mountain Province was awarded the Best Municipal Police Station, while the Mountain Province Provincial Mobil Force Command (PMFC) was adjudged as the Best Provincial Mobile Force Company.

Special Unit Recognition Awards were presented to Kalinga PPO for its campaign against illegal drugs, Abra PPO for its campaign against loose firearms, Mountain Province PPO for its campaign against wanted persons, Apayao PPO for Best PPO in revitalized physical conditioning and most improved body mass index (BMI), BCPO for illegal drug personalities arrested during the campaign against illegal drugs and the Benguet PPO for its campaign against top most wanted persons (TMWPs).

Special awards were given to Patrolman John Cleveland Pannogan of Kalinga PPO who received the Medalya ng Kasanayan and Special Individual Award for donating P50,000 for the Adopt A family Program of the PNP.

The Regional Health Service Cordillera received a Special Unit Award in recognition of its notable accomplishments as the lead unit in providing medical and health care services and safety protocols to the PNP and the community in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

Brigadier General R'win Pagkalinawan cited PRO-Cordillera's one year accomplishment and expressed his gratefulness to the men and women of PRO-Cordillera and all other partners.

Pagkalinawan thanked members of the community and all stakeholders for the enhanced collaboration and partnership with the PNP through a renewed trust and confidence while pursuing its mission and vision as servants and protectors.

This year's 119th PNP Service Anniversary theme dubbed "Towards a Pandemic-Resilient Philippine National Police (PNP): Adopting Protective Protocols in the New Normal."
