Baguio police to monitor bullying incidents during opening of class

POLICE will be strictly monitoring “Hypebeast” to ensure that no bullying incidents will occur when classes open Monday, June 4.

"We assure the public particularly the parents, of BCPO's commitment to monitor the activities of this group. We, however, advise the parents and teachers to instruct their children and students to proceed immediately to their houses after school and to prevent loitering around the city," said Senior Inspector Marlon Evasco, Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 7 chief.

Hypebeasts are known to frequent the areas of Insular Life area, the city hall flagpole, Mines View, Rose Garden, Camp John Hay and Panagbenga Park.

"Another system which we highly recommend is for the parents and teachers to check the bags of their children and students of additional clothes and as much as possible, confiscate them since all the students have their assigned uniforms. The confiscation of additional clothes would be negate the possible bullying they may revived from members of Hypebeast," Evasco said.

Based on the initial profiling of the BCPO on 2017, there were 73 members of hypebeasts from Baguio City High School and 49 from Pines City National High School.

Reports say the modus of the group targets victims who do not wear the same brand of clothing as they do.

Previously, Public Order as Safety Committee Chairman Councilor Roberto Francisco Roberto Ortega IV called on BCPO Director Ramil Saculles, Federico Martin of the Department of Education Baguio Schools Division Superintendent and Annie Marie Caguioa, president of the Association of Private Schools Administrators Baguio City Chapter to the local council to shed light on issues over the proliferation of hypebeast members bullying city children.
