SOME P4.9 million worth of marijuana and P646,732 worth of "shabu" (methamphetamine hydrochloride) were confiscated by the Baguio City Police Office(BCPO) for the first half of the year.
Police Major Divine Mencio, BCPO public information officer in her report, said the local police conducted 77 various drug busts.
"This was a result of BCPO's continuing campaign against illegal drugs in the city. In 2018, confiscated shabu was only at P180,633 while marijuana was only at P6,000 with a total street value of P186,633," Mencio said.
In its 2019 midyear report, a total of 146 drug personalities were arrested by BCPO, with 48 arrested in July.
Meanwhile, the top five leading crimes committed in the city from January to August this year was theft with 130 cases, 81 physical injuries, 33 robbery, 22 rape and 10 homicide, followed by murder, and carnapping of motorcycles and vehicles.
"Our index crime for January to August 2019 indicates 287 cases recorded or two cases lower than that of last year while our non-index crimes was at 1,154 as compared to 1,958 cases in the same period last year," the information officer stated.
From January to July this year, BCPO responded to 13 cases, implemented 10 search warrants and five warrants of arrests.
"In 2018, our crime clearance efficiency was recorded at 84% or two percent lower than this year at 86% while our crime solution efficiency was also lower this year by two percent at 76% as compared to 78% percent in the same period last year," Mencio added.
BCPO's January to August 2019 accomplishment report also indicated 31 wanted persons arrested with 22 listed under station level, six for city level, two at provincial level and one at the regional level.
BCPO further calls on the public to strengthen its cooperation and coordination with their police force for the immediate arrest of suspected not involved in the illegal drug trade but those involved in other crimes being committed in Baguio City.
