Bicycle racks installation sought in La Trinidad

INSTALLATION of bicycle rack is being sought within the municipality of La Trinidad to be utilized for bike parking.

Through a resolution, La Trinidad Councilor Guiller Galwan is requested Mayor Romeo Salda for the installation of bicycle rack within the municipal building compound to be utilized for bike parking.

“These initiatives compliment public transport system and help reduce the congestion and pollution,” said Galwan.

Galwan added the use of bicycle as one solution to the environmental, economic, traffic and health problems the Benguet town is currently experiencing.

Recently, the local council approved a resolution encouraging the municipality to use non-motorized vehicles such as bicycle as a means of transportation.

The resolution is also anchored to executive order of the Mayor on April 5 declaring every Thursday of every month as car less day in the areas of municipal building of which the valley is set to implement next week.

Exempted from the coverage are government and private vehicles used by persons with disabilities and senior citizens. Moreover, barangays are encouraged to adopt every Thursday of the first week of each month as car free day in their jurisdiction.
