Cordillera welcomes 193 new cops

SOME 193 newly appointed patrolmen in the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera were formally welcomed during the simultaneous oath-taking ceremonies at the National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City and Camp Dangwa in Benguet Province.

Police Major Carol Lacuata, PRO-Cordillera Public Information Officer (PIO), said the 193 new appointees underwent agility tests, neurological and psychological examination, medical examinations and the final interview process before taking their oath.

After taking their oath, the police trainees will be sent to the Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center (CARTC) for a six-month training course, followed by another six months Field Training Program (FTP) course on patrolling, investigation and traffic procedure.

"After their FTP, these police personnel will be sent back to the CARTC for assessment before graduation and become organic or full pledge members of the Police organization after being allowed to file for permanency. Upon taking oath, they will all start to receive their clothing allowances through the issued automated teller machine or ATM cards issued by the Regional Command," Lacuata said.

Police Brigadier General R'win Pagkalinawan, PRO-Cordillera director, reiterated to the incoming police officers the importance of improving their discipline, skills and courtesy particularly in developing their relationship with the community.

"The PNP needs you to help carry on the torch of transformation. I then enjoin you in this endeavor and not add to the burdens of the organization, we will continue to gain the respect and support of the community through efficient partnership geared towards the realization of the PNP transformation program, take the chance to be fully educated and molded into a shape every policeman must be," Pagkalinawan said.
