A DINOSAUR park is believed to offer alternative recreation for the city.

Thermozone Philippines Corporation's vice president Eduardo Meneses is hoping for an approval of the “Dinosaurs Island Burnham Park Baguio,” situated at the “Pine Trees of the World” area near the athletic bowl.

Meneses in an interview with SunStar Baguio said the proposal is done in good faith by the company, mostly composed of partners from Baguio City who champion mechanical and engineering ingenuity of locals.

Menses, who himself said grew up in the city said majority of partners are composed of locals with world- class skills working in all Filipino company wanting to set up base in the city.

The proposal sent by Thermozone details a lease spanning 25 years, which is now being studied by the Public Private Partnership for the People Initiative (P4) committee of the city.

The process involves the approval of the committee which will be elevated and decided by the entire City Council before a turnover to city mayor Maurico Domogan for approval.

Members of the P4 are Councilors Maylen Yaranon, Elmer Datuin, Leandro Yangot and Faustino Olowan with P4 chair and City Budget Officer Letty Clemente, City Planning and Development Officer Evelyn Cayat, council secretary Berner Bengwayan, Nazita Banez of the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO), City Engineer Edgar Olpindo, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers representative Jose Tagudar and City Environment and Parks Management Office head Cordelia Lacsamana.

Meneses said the transfer of the Dino Island at Tuba, Benguet has been broached since last year to Domogan saying the company has earlier sent a proposal for the Burnham Skating Rink, but was withdrawn.

Meneses added the company has also been doing business with the city claiming successful operations of the Christmas light show at People’s Park last year.

The Thermozone official added the Pine Trees of the World is an ideal spot for the theme park.

Meneses said the Dino Park will also be able to highlight the beauty of the area and vowed to maintain the 1,000 square meter space.

Meneses said the company is also ready to listen to concerns of all stakeholders.
