Gamblers, cockfighters nabbed in Baguio

POLICE apprehended illegal gamblers and cockfighters found to be operating despite the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Baguio City Police Office reported separate incidents of illegal gambling at West Tapao, Quirino Hill on April 5 and Purok 1, KM 3, Asin Road on April 4.

On Palm Sunday, police uncovered bingo operations and arrested Walter Dayao, Patrick Mangawa, Jasper Balusdan, Marcial Bolduken, Marvin Cayawen, Christian Decina Bayao, all of legal age were and charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1602 and Republic Act 11332.

Dexter Valintin, identified as the operator is still at large as of Monday, April 6.

The raid was conducted after police received a telephone call reporting an ongoing gambling operation at West Quirino Hill.

Police, led by Lieutenant Roy Bunos with Police Captain Jeremiah Benito, caught the group playing bingo. Confiscated items from them were bingo cards and cash amounting to P710.

In Asin Road, police of Station 9 also responded to a tip that an illegal cock fighting (tupada) is being held at Dup-et Compound.

While on the way to the area, a look out was able to warn players allowing them to escape arrest.

Police were able to destroy the improvised cockpit arena.
