Incentives for Tuba centenarians pushed

CENTENARIANS in Tuba are set to receive cash incentive after members of the Benguet Provincial Board gave favorable review to the proposed law.

Members of the committee on finance and appropriations during Monday’s Provincial Board session approved the ordinance providing award and cash incentives to centenarians in the municipality of Tuba.

Under the Tuba ordinance authored by Councilors Eugene Gabino, Oliver and Gloria Paus, and Reachelle Takinan, the award and incentive will be given to all senior citizens of the town who are listed or registered in the town's database of Senior Citizens under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).

Senior citizens aged 100 years old will receive a plaque of recognition and P20,000 cash incentive.

Beneficiaries must also comply with the documentary requirements and conform with the guidelines provided under the Department of Social and Welfare and Development Memorandum Circular No. 4-2017 providing guidelines in the identification and verification of beneficiaries.

The ordinance added the cash incentive will be given to centenarian on their birthday and a plaque to be given during the celebration of the National Respect for Centenarian's Day celebrated annually every October.

A total of P100,000 will be appropriated in the annual budget and or supplemental budget of Tuba MSWDO for the implementation of the law.
