Kagawad, Apayao’s most wanted fall

A BARANGAY official from Tayum, Abra and Apayao’s top most wanted person (TMWP) were collared by police in separate occasions by the different units of the Police Regional Office–Cordillera (PRO-COR).

By virtue of a search warrant, Reynante Tadeo Tugade, 32, a village councilor of Budac, Tayum was arrested which led to the confiscation of two sachets of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with undetermined quantity.

Tugade is allegedly one of the narco-politicians of Abra who recently had a dialogue with the regional police office.

Meanwhile, some P8,782,000 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants and stalks were destroyed in the mountainous area of Kalinga over the week.

In the implementation of “Oplan Linis Barangay,” the Kalinga Provincial Police Office destroyed the fully grown marijuana plants and stalks in the mountainous areas of Barangays Buscalan and Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga on June 30 by the combined operating troops of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), PDEA CAR, Ilocos Sur, Cagayan Valley, and AFP counterparts in a three-day operation.

A total of 37,950 fully grown marijuana plants worth P7,532,00 and 10,000 grams of marijuana stalks worth P1,250,000 were found in a land area of 7,400 square meters and were uprooted and burned onsite.

PRO-COR noted a massive reduction of supply of marijuana and has vowed to continue the war on drugs noting a massive reduction in crimes specifically illegal drugs as a result of its intensified crackdown against illegal drugs over the past months.

Chief Superintendent Rolando Nana, regional director of PRO-COR, said the crackdown against scalawags in uniform and other government officials and employees involved in drugs will continue as part of its internal cleansing measures.

In Apayao, the province’s fourth TMWP with a reward of P90,000 finally landed in jail after he was nabbed at 143 Asuncion Street, Morning Breeze Subdivision, Barangay 84, Caloocan City in the afternoon of July 2.

Joint personnel of RIU-14 and Conner MPS in coordination with Caloocan City Police District, PCP 1 arrested 64 year old Vicente Tabbu Licayo, a native of Tuao Cagayan, and a resident of #143 Asuncion Street, Morning Breeze Subdivision, Barangay 84, Caloocan City.

Licayo was charged for the crime of Rape in Relation to RA 7610 issued by Judge Quirino Andaya of RTC, 2nd Judicial Region, Branch 26 Luna, Apayao.

Licayo was a former member of the Philippine Army and had been listed no. 1 TMWP in the municipality of Conner from 2015 to 2017.

Prior to his arrest, Licayo was currently employed as a caretaker in one of the apartments at Morning Breeze Subdivision when he was spotted at a convenient store in Caloocan City on June 29.
