Kennon Road open during Panagbenga

THE CORDILLERA Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, through the Inter-agency Task Group Kennon announced the extension of the road advisory for Kennon Road in line with the new schedule of Panagbenga 2020 traditional events.

In an advisory late Tuesday evening, March 3, Kennon will be open to private motorists on a two-way scheme every weekend, or from 6 a.m. of Friday, March 6 to 6 p.m. of Monday, March 9, and every weekend of this month (March 13 to 16, March 20 - 23 and March 27 - 30).

For weekdays, Kennon will be open one lane going up to Baguio from 6:01 p.m. of Monday to 5:59 a.m. of Friday.

Motorists going up are advised to remain on the right (upward) lane, as residents are allowed to use the southbound lane.

The advisory added use of Kennon Road are for light vehicles only weighing five tons and below.

Motorists are also advised to observe the speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour and traffic/parking rules, especially when going for a stopover at the Lion’s Head.

“In case of inclement weather and/or sudden occurrence of thunderstorm where landslide is imminent in the area, Kennon Road will be closed upon the recommendation of DPWH and Tuba LGU and Municipal Police Office,” the advisory added. (SunStar Baguio)
