Live-in partners arrested for illegal drugs

A FEMALE suspect tried to elude arrest with his alleged live-in partner after they were apprehended by police for illegal possession of marijuana seeds and leaves in Kibungan, Benguet.

During a patrol and validation of suspected marijuana plantation sites in Sitio Moling, Palina, the Kibungan Municipal Police Station said that around 4:30 p.m. of January 17, it arrested Edward Calayon, 58, a farmer, and his 63-year-old live-in partner named Betty.

Recovered from the suspects were at least 500 grams of marijuana seeds and 14,850 dried marijuana leaves and stalks with a total Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1,802,000.

The suspects are now under police custody and are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165.

The female suspect was brought to a hospital for medical attention.
