THE Top Ten Outstanding Kagawads in Baguio City were commended for exemplary performance.
The 4th annual search for the Ten Outstanding Barangay Kagawads in Baguio was launched in celebration of the Rotary Club of Downtown Session’s (RCDS) 21st Charter Anniversary on March 2018.
Awardees were Patricio Evangelista of Trancoville, Faustino Wayas of Pacdal, Anselma Mayao of Lower, Quirino, Jonathan Villena of Brookside, Gemmalyn Piza of Sto. Niño Slaughte, Ceasar Policarpio of San Roque, Ralph ZosimoLeung of Brookpoint, Vicenta Ona of Gibraltar, Imelda Tibalao of SLU-SVP and Thelma Murla of Lualhati.
Karl Gabaen, a member of the RCDS, said the group’s aim is to recognize and award kagawads who have rendered outstanding contributions and achievements to their respective communities and have displayed exemplary conduct bestowing the Rotary’s motto, “service above self”.
The criteria for choosing the winners were divided to four categories, the best for Peace and Order, Youth and Women, Livelihood/Entreprenuership, Environment and Legislative Drafting. The judges selected two winners for each category.
Gabaen said that in choosing the winners, they gave more weight to the kagawads’ role in passing legislation.
The Rotary Club also awarded 30 outgoing barangay captains who finished their third consecutive term in office. (Emma Guillermo, MMSU intern)
