Police nab most wanted in Kalinga, Benguet

THE Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-COR) scored anew in its campaign against wanted persons after arresting top most wanted persons (TMWP) in Kalinga and Benguet.

After almost 10 months of continuous surveillance, Kalinga’s number 9 TMWP for the 2nd Quarter of 2020 was captured in the afternoon of May 1, 2020 in Bayabat, Dilag, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong, Kalinga Provincial Police Office OIC provincial director, identified the arrested suspect as Abraham Laguitao Gunnawa, 30, farmer and a resident of Tabuk City.

Gunnawa was charged for homicide and violation of Presidential Decree 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines) with a recommended bail bond of P120,000 each.

The suspect allegedly hacked Clinton Lao-ang Serquina (who died upon arrival in the hospital), Ronie Antolin Serquina and Ranny Antolin Serquina were hacked in Tuliao, Calanan, Tabuk City, Kalinga in the afternoon of July 15, 2019.

His cohort Lino Gunnawa aka Payason was arrested on March 9, 2020, while Gonzales Gunnawa and Rexam Gunnawa aka Eyadan were captured on July 15 last year.

Jhony Manman Abance, 31, farmer, of Puguis La Trinidad, Benguet tagged as the No. 1 TMWP in the province of Benguet for the first quarter of 2019 was arrested in Puguis, La Trinidad in the evening of May 4 for the crime of rape.

Provincial Director Colonel Elmer Ragay said Abance was charged for three counts of rape after he raped a 16 – year – old student inside his boarding house on October 19, 2018.

“We continue to pursue more aggressive operations in arresting the remaining wanted persons in the Cordillera region despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic Covid-19,” PRO - COR regional director Police Brigadier General R’win Pagkalinawan said.
