SOME P3.4 million was raised by personnel of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Cordillera for the rehabilitation efforts in Cagayan Valley and Bicol Region.
Broken down per province, Abra Police Provincial Office (PPO) donated P535,910, Apayao PPO with P157,200, Baguio City Police Office - P509,400, Benguet PPO - P532,500, Ifugao PPO - P320,200, Kalinga PPO - P405,900 and Mt. Province PPO shared P283,000.
The Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) donated P297,500 while personnel from the Regional Head Quarters contributed a total of P249,855 and the Regional Support Unit who contributed P116,410.
In a low-key ceremonial turnover at Kalinga PPO grounds, the collected funds in the form of cheque amounting P2,040,000 was personally handed by PRO-Cordillera Director Police Brigadier General R'win Pagkalinawan to Police Brigadier General Edgar Cagayan, deputy regional director for Administration of PRO-Cagayan Valley.
Coordination is currently underway with PRO-Bicol for the turnover of P1,367,875 as cash assistance of PRO-Cordillera to the people of Bicol Region.
This is the third time PRO-Cordillera conducted the Bayanihan Fund Challenge, with previous similar undertakings amassing P11.7 million for the "Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko" Program, while P4.1 million was collected for the Sadanga Footbridge Challenge.
The Bayanihan Fund Challenge is part of the PNP's selflessly sharing and providing support to those in need with cash donations strictly given voluntarily with no standard amount of contribution specified.
