THE Social Security System (SSS) has extended its deadline of contributions until June 30, 2020.

This covers all household employers, self-employed, voluntary and non-working spouse members for the first quarter, and contribution payments of all regular employers for February, March and April from June 15 to the end of the month.

Christian Rillorta, SSS-Baguio public information officer, explained the extension was announced by its central office to accommodate paying members who have been affected by coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“The deadline for the first quarter payment contribution was supposed to be June 15 but we have received instructions from our central office to extend this until June 30,” Rillorta said.

Rillorta added there will be no penalties or interest to members who will pay for their contribution.

“Those that will incur penalties and interests are those involving loans and because we are currently under a three-month moratorium, no interests and penalties will be applied for this payment,” Rillorta stated.

As public health and safety remain the top priorities of SSS, paying members are reminded to follow guidelines issued by the government to reduce the risk of exposure to Covid-19.
