Tinoc vice mayor missing

TINOC town Vice Mayor Fernando Gapuz in Ifugao has been reported missing since Friday, July 19, according to police.

Authorities said the 56-year-old official was last seen in the morning of July 19 in Impugong village.

Police Lieutenant Daniel Licyayo, Tinoc chief of police, said all family members started looking for the vice mayor with their relatives in Benguet and other towns of Ifugao.

Members of the municipal council were also sent to different places to look for the official while the Tinoc police coordinated with other provincial police offices.

“Based on our interview with the vice mayor’s wife, she had no idea that her husband left for Abatan and why he went there which is why up to this time, this case is still under investigation. We still could not say what other possible angles may be present based on the CCTV footage of the vice mayor which is why we are still in the process of a follow-up investigation,” Licyayo said.

Gapuz was reported to have disembarked from a public transport vehicle he was riding in Abatan, Bugias, Benguet.

The vice mayor was last seen wearing a brown leather jacket, a green collared polo shirt, brown sandals, brown pants, and a dark-yellow shawl.

Police are urging the public who has seen or has any information on Gapuz’s whereabouts to contact Tinoc Municipal Police Station at (0935)110-7168. (Jonathan Llanes)
