Tree pruning sought for public safety

Published on:

THE Baguio City Council has approved the proposal of Councilor Francisco Roberto Ortega VI to regular prune trees in the city for the safety of all.

Ortega, head of the committee on public protection and safety, peace and order, proposed that the City Environment and Parks Management Office of the city inspect and prune trees regularly.

Ortega said the geographical location of the city makes it prone to natural disasters, especially from June to September.

In his report to the council, Ortega said the city government has been intensifying efforts in ensuring the safety of its constituents before the start of the rainy season every year.

A precautionary measure that should be taken by the city is the regular trimming and removal of tree branches to avoid accidents, he said.

Ortega cited that in the last storm, a bystander was hurt when a tree branch fell on him.
