Veggie trader loses P300,000

CLOSE to P300,000 in cash was stolen in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Police said Rose Bekegan Magno, 57, a native of Banooy, Buguias, Benguet, lost the money to a thief who barged into her house on May 25.

Magno told police that she was supposed to pay the cash for the vegetables she bought. It was handed to her by her nephew, Polonia Palkacio, 44.

She said the cash was hidden inside a cabinet of her boarding house.

Around 11:30 a.m. of May 25, she said she found the padlock of her boarding house destroyed, prompting her to check the cash but it was already missing.

Investigation revealed that the thief destroyed the padlock of the door, took the cash, and exited from the main door.

Authorities recovered a hammer and the destroyed padlock placed on top of the sink in the kitchen.

Police have requested for a copy of a closed circuit television camera footage to identify the thief.
